Are you an Environmental Conservator?
The most direct way to help save the environment can also help you save some money and reduce your carbon footprint. According to scientists, your automobile emissions are a major factor in global warming. Global warming is believed to cause drastic changes to the earth’s environment. In fact, global warming is already being blamed for wreaking havoc on animals in the polar regions, especially the polar bear.
Here are a few ways you can cut your car emissions and help save the earth.
1. Stop Driving Everywhere
We are a lazy bunch! The store may be less than a 1/4 mile away but we’ll drive there instead of walking. Take the kids, walk to the store and get some exercise.
2. Take Stuff Out of Your Car
Any extra weight in your car burns fuel. Take the junk out of your trunk and lighten the load. It will save gas, which save you money and it reduces carbon emissions.
3. Tires and Engine
Get your car to your mechanic or auto dealer and have it tuned up. While you are there, ask them to check the air pressure of all four tires. Under inflated tires reduce fuel efficiency and can effect your ability to control the car.
Overinflated tires may give your car a minimal increase in fuel efficiency, but it is can reduce the wear of your tire tread by up to 50%. In addition, overinflated tires are more prone to blowout.
4. Start and Stop Slow
Refrain from speeding up to the red light and then slamming on the brakes. It’s the same thing with proceeding when the light turns green. Easy does it – It will save you money and help save the environment.
5. Drive The Speed Limit
If you travel at 75 miles per hour in a 55 mile per hour zone, you reduce fuel efficiency by more than 20%. That is significant and a great way to the most fuel efficiency out of your conventional car.
6. Convert Your Car To Use Alternative Fuels
Another option is to convert your car to burn alternative fuels. If you have a diesel engine, you can look into converting your car to burn biodiesel.
If your car uses gasoline you can convert your car to use water by having a fuel cell added to your engine. This fuel cell converts water to hydrogen gas (HHO). The hydrogen gas produces energy that helps to maximize the miles you get from a tank of gas. it is said that you can reduce your fuel costs by up to 50%.
