Electric Car Conversions

Are the adventurous type? Are you a grease monkey? Like cars? Looking to save money? How about a good challenge? You can perform an electric car conversion. Yep! that’s right! With a conversion kit you can convert your gas guzzler to strictly an electric car. Here’s where the challenge comes it – it ain’t easy! You might even want to surrender the work to an experienced mechanic.

What’s the Good News

  1. When the conversion is done you are no longer dependent on gasoline
  2. You are helping the environment
  3. You are saving money on fuel costs
  4. It’s a great solution for someone who has a short driving commute

The Bad News

  1. Electric cars have a limited driving range and require frequent charges
  2. The conversion doesn’t come cheap. This is based on the need for a seasoned professional to do it
  3. Bad solution is you drive long distances to work

Another possible conversion is from gasoline to electric. This is done by making it a hybrid electric car. In this conversion you actually retain two sources of fuel; electric and gasoline or preferably, an alternative fuel source. Although this is not 100% emission free, it does help reduce the amount of carbon emissions overall.

So, unless you’re a super mechanic and you want to convert you car to an electric vehicle or hybrid automobile – Hire a professional.

    I think it’s worth the challange, and true EV have some limitation over the normal car, but if you think of the environment and of the future. It will be a good choice. And I hope that prices of electric car conversion kits will come down soon.
