Obama Should Embrace Hydrogen Fuel Cell Technology

Barack Obama has a plan for America to use alternative energy technology to kick start the economy and save the planet In the forefront is a plan to spend billions on renewable energies like solar power and offshore wind farms.

This is a great start but if we really want to save the environment, we need to address a replacement for fossil-fuels. Some weapons in our arsenal include alternative fuels technologies such as biodiesel, hybrid cars, electric vehicles and natural gas powered vehicles. But the most promising alternative energy is hydrogen.

Hydrogen and fuel cell research and development are focusing on hydrogen production and delivery, hydrogen storage, fuel cells, technology validation, safety, codes and standards, and analysis. The goal is to help industry develop technologies to produce, store, transport and use hydrogen made from renewable resources in quantities large enough, and at costs low enough, to compete with traditional energy sources such as coal, oil and natural gas.

America needs to promote private hydrogen and other alternative fuel cell research activities that will work the DOE and other government agencies, industry, communities, universities, and other national labs to implement a national hydrogen energy vision for America. An energy vision is a clean and secure for Mother Nature.
